I Have Questions….

Will I get to talk to a real person?

Absolutely. It will be over video but you will have therapy with a Licensed Professional Counselor, face to face.

Why are your prices so high?

The prices listed reflect value of confidentiality and the time of clients. Prices also reflect fair local market rates in the area for these services. Clients don’t just pay for the hour session, that fee covers notes, billing, training, consultation, available resources, and research.

Where can I do therapy?

Wherever you choose. We offer in-person office visits or Teletherapy. Somewhere private is recommended if choosing Teletherapy so you can focus and get as much out of the experience as possible. Telehealth respects your busy schedule but also is an investment in you and your well-being, you will want to ensure your environment will allow your full attention and comfort. Teletherapy is also flexible enough you can have sessions in your car or home, during a lunch break, or between classes.

Do you have an office?

Office visits are now available. However, teletherapy is also readily available in interest of COVID-19 prevention as well as client convenience.

Cups of Tea Counseling is located in Upstream Counseling in the Midtown Plaza Annex Building.

317 W Main St.

Norman, OK 73069

Will you ask me how I feel?

Yes.

How will you do activities with my kid with Teletherapy?

Technology is wonderful. I can send worksheets and I have a variety of activities we can do during sessions if that would be productive. Depending on topics, homework is a possibility, or we may play games. Therapy and sessions are individualized.

How do I do sessions?

1.) Contact for consultation. 2.) You will receive an email upon scheduling. 3.) Set up your profile through the link. 4.) Attend session.

Do you have dogs?

Yes, and I will show them to you if we are doing teletherapy! Thunder is dark brown, Radar is blonde, and Mufasa is the fluffy one. They love attention and are good boys. (Very good boys!) If dogs scare you or make you nervous I can make sure they aren’t a problem or put them in hats.

What will therapy look like?

Sessions usually last 60 minutes. We will go over any progress or issues, learn skills and/or process, and prepare for the time between sessions.

What if I don’t like tea?

That is alright! That is not a prerequisite for treatment at all.

What did you do before this?

I have worked in day treatment and residential settings the most. In residential placements I worked in the human trafficking program with adolescents and teens, worked with youth with sexual behavior problems, and youth who were court-ordered to treatment. I also interned in outpatient and school-based settings and worked with kids as young as five and provided therapeutic services to adults in geriatric care as well. I have done a lot of work regarding trauma, emotion regulation, and improving thoughts and behaviors.

I don’t think you can be my therapist.

I know some other therapists who might be a better fit! Let me know and I can refer you to another therapist who can help.

How often will I have therapy ?

Frequency will be identified during intake and can be 1-2 weekly or less. We’ll work together and figure out a good fit and the frequency will change as you progress.
